Tips on IKEA Kitchens? Do you like them?

I'll be buying an IKEA kitchen, I really love them. Any tips? Should I go with my contractor father in law, or go for the IKEA installation for like $1500? Any advice would be great. Also, do you like the red ones? Those are the ones my hubby wants. I've heard reviewers say that out of stock items can take a long time to arrive, and I'm cool with that, I just won't tear up the kitchen till they come, no biggie. Glad I heard it though!
