I need to buy a good cookbook!will you help me?

Hi guys! I'm an exchange student from Italy and I love American recipes (of course I love the Italian ones, too...but I don't need an Italian cookbook!) btw.... So far my favorite cookbook is the America's test kitchen family cookbook, cos my host family has it and I think it's a great one. Do you have any suggestion?other better cookbooks? ps: do you think it's a waste of money if I buy both the family cookbook and the BAKING cookbook? thanx!!!

  1. Without a doubt you need "JOY OF COOKING" It's an all purpose but excellent cookbook that all chefs and cooks should have.
  2. It is never a waste to buy cook books, but if you want to save money there are so many websites that post recipes for free. That is where I get mine, I print them, try them if they are good they get hole punched and added to my personlized cook book. It's like making a mixed cd. lol
  3. if i could only have one cookbook(have about 30-40, I collect them) it would be the Better Homes and Garden Cookbook. mine is so used it is tattered and the cover has been missing for years. when i cook i usually find a couple of recipes for the same thing and then make the recipe my own, my first stop is usually the BHGC
  4. You can't go wrong w/ America's Test Kitchens! And no, it would not be a waste of $$ to buy both family and baking versions of ATC's cookbooks. They are excellent.
  5. Taste of Home, Better Homes and Gardens, Betty Crocker, Paula Deen, Rachel Ray, or Cooking Light. I love these cookbooks never disappointed.
  6. williams sonoma has good cook books and i suggest you go to your local barnes&noble or borders bookstore and just browse the books.
  7. I would recommend two cookbooks 1. Healthy Meat and Potatoes, by Charles Knight, ISBN: 1557883580 Hundreds of thousands of home cooks use waterless/greaseless cookware because it makes cooking healthy, hearty food amazingly easy. And Healthy Meat and Potatoes shows readers how to use this revolutionary cookware to make all kinds of delicious, nutritious dishes. From all-American favorites to mouthwatering ethnic delights, readers will learn how to cook scrumptious meals without losing the flavor and nutritional qualities that traditional cooking methods can take away. In addition to the wide range of original recipes, the book also includes hints, tips, and valuable information for the health-and taste-conscious cook. 2. Better Health Cookbook (Delicious Recipes Low in Fat,High in Nutrients, Waterless & Greaseless Method of Cooking) Great book on how to cook waterless and greaseless, delicious recipes that are low in fat and high in nutrients
