What are some good natural materials that are can be used in kitchens?

I am going for a natural look for my "open kitchen + dining", thinking about cladding a wall with faux stone. Have folklore furniture and using a natural material for flooring. I was thinking HDF but I was warned that HDF flooring in kitchens won't last too long. Any ideas??

1. Laminate flooring is fine in a kitchen, it just cannot have any water laying on it for any length of time because of the swelling aspect and you would have to replace that. I had it in one of my houses and had no problems with it at all. I found it durable.
2. bamboo wood floors, they last long and earth friendly, or a type of stone tile if you have the money.
