What kind of codes are there for basement kitchens in Denver?

I am currently renting a basement of someones home and am sharing an upstairs kitchen. The laundry room looks like it could be made into a kitchen too. What are the codes that would have to be followed to do this?

1. I think that the codes are on the website for the county. After that you need to get a permit. When I start a project I ask a contractor friend of mine because he knows the building codes. You could probably call and ask a construction professional as well.
