Bathroom remodel - to Hire an professional to do the drawings.?
How much does it cost to have an Architect or a designer draw up some plans for you. I am looking to redo my master bath and I want a wow factor and no pictures I find will do it. I like clean and contemporary. I also will do most of the work myself.

- Well, I have one piece of advice: Do NOT ask for anyone from Home Depot to do a design for you. We are in a terrible mess because of our decision and it has cost us dearly. I could have done a better job myself. Look in your yellow pages or ask the locals for some advice on who you should contact. You shouldn't have to pay more than a couple hundred dollars for a good designer's plan.
- Depending on the city that you live in. Generally, a medium size city will run you around $2-5/sf for a designer and $8+/sf for an architect. You may want to ask around for recommendations. Interior designers should be able to do this type of work as well. Their fee will be in the middle. For something so small, you only need the services of a designer. As the city gets bigger, so does the price.
- I strongly recommend working with a kitchen and bath design specialist, ideally a certified one. You can find one through the National Kitchen & Bath Association. These folks adhere to the association's business code of conduct, follow highly-respected design guidelines and take continuing education courses to maintain their hard-earned certifications. Use the Advanced "FInd a Professional" search tool at www.nkba.org and specify "Certified" to locate someone in your area. Fees vary by firm and project. In many cases, NKBA designers will apply all or part of it to your cabinetry purchase.
