are homes in other countries ALL like this?
I watch HGTV House hunters international ALL THE TIME!! They go to "europe" and "Baja" a lot. It seems like the european homes are all kid of gross! Some are REALLY small and look like cracked cement walls, and floors, rotten gardens, TINY OLD kitchens, and with old windows they say "oh, how nice!" I'm thinking "are you shitting me? get me the hell out!" and the ones in Baja are ALWAYS condos, with UGLY brown tile, and smal kitchens that are updated, but the rest of the house is NOT... is this realistic????

- The homes I have seen in England, Wales, Scotland, Northern Ireland and the Republic are small (to western standards). Appliances are tiny compared to those in the US and not many have "over the top" things like clothes dryers and dishwashers. Remember a lot of the homes are over 100 years old in Europe. Not many in UK have large clothes closets and I have never seen a "walk in". None of the restrooms in the homes where I have been a guest had an electrical plug in the bathroom and few even in the bedroom. I come home and wonder if I really need all this "stuff".
- Visiting friends in England I must admit that the houses have rather small rooms. However, going to France, Germany or the Mediterranien countries like Turkey the rooms are much bigger. Generally speaking old buildings are usually designed more old fashioned and dim. In the Mediterranien it is intended to prevent the hot sun. On the other hand I visited houses in Greece, Italy or Spain where they keep the buildings well ventilated and not dim at all. New houses in Germany are very modern with separate room for laundry and dryer. Dishwashers are common since the 80s. Rooms are usually painted in light colours with wooden floor. Balconies and terraces and usually garden. Apartments in Hong Kong are usually very small and often poorly built and maintained.
- i saw a couple and i thought the houses and apartments were very old europe i liked them. well Europe is not the US where theres a lot of land and building resources like wood, marble, granite, clay, etc.. Europe has been developed for centuries.i would think there quary mines are diminishing because of their massive gothic cathedrals and architecture and also wars. remember while the Americas architecture wasclay buildings with dark rooms and animal skin tents, Europe had massive, ornate castles, cathedrals, palaces, chateaus, etc.
