What color should I paint my dark wood veneer cabinets?

Just moved in and need to do a quick fix while we get the funds to redo our kitchen. The floor is an ugly light yellow linoleum and the counter tops are a light tannish color. The appliances are black and the wall paper is white with little fruit designs in it consisting of green leaves, golden pears, and purple grapes. I have NO CLUE what color to pain the cabinets! I feel like white will completely wash out the rest of the room since everything else is light (except the appliances).
