poster display design ideas?

so i am running for state reporter for a club and i have to make a tri-fold display board....i want this display to be really creative but so far my only idea is to make the background out of newspaper.... any other ideas? colors? themes?

1. Maybe make your board stand out by cutting it down a bit to be a unique shape? I always slice a bit off the bottom and use it to attatch to the top for the title. In this case perhaps make it look like a Newspaper's name? Like form the Front page? Also if youre going to be covering the back with a busy print make sure to keep the words on it in simple text so it's readable and not distracting.
