  1. Sounds good but too lengthy--Edit as much as you can. A Manager or HR person doesn't want to read a 4 page resume for an entry level position.
  2. Do not open with Hiring Manager – find out the person’s name if you have to call the company and ask. Just ask the name of the personal manager and then hang up after you get it. Do not ask for information in the resume – time for that later. Leave out “can be described such as” just say skills and attributes Do not say considered say I am Leave out the typing speed that makes you seem like a clerk End with “I have a flexible schedule and can provide any further information. Thank you When you talk about your experience as an assistant Manager in Virginia Beach emphasize that this gave you a hands-on opportunity to polish your English skills with a wide variety of people.
  3. You know, I am thinking that you are overqualified for a clerk receptionist position. You probably need to look for jobs that better align with your qualifications. Your resume is OK. Cut down on your list of personal qualities in your letter of inquiry. Leave out most of them and concentrate on the ones that match the job duties. Also, Have your transcripts translated by a accredited institution. This is not the best time to be looking for a job in the US because of the financial crisis. Unless they know you personally, employers are going to hire an American first. You may want to enroll in an American University so that you can get some letters of reference from an American source. You may want to go to some companies so that people can meet you when you apply. Personal contact is very important here. Also, go to a university or community college and look on their job board at the career planning and placement office. They have some good leads. Craig's list is not a very good place to find a job. Try Monster instead. Look in you local newspaper, go to the unemployment office or the Sunday classified ads in the local newspaper. You will have much better luck looking for a job in the Northeast or on the West Coast because foreigners are more readily accepted there. In the South and Midwest, people tend to be suspicious of people with a foreign accent.
  4. Find one of the many online sites which provide forms for resumes, select one and fill it out. Then see what you have left, and consider whether it should be in a resume. If so, return to YA to ask for help, or email an answerer who seems capable of helping you to organize the balance of your material. Find some space near the beginning of your resume in which you can express that English is a second language for you, but that you are working to improve it, satisfied that working in an environment where English is the common language will improve your skill quickly. There are a few good tips also included in the responses of other answerers. ps -- Love your name!
