Classified ad seeking employment. Good idea or bad?

I've moved to a small town with few job opportunities and I'm currently seeking employment. In addition to saturating the area with my resume, I'm considering placing a newspaper ad seeking employment. Maybe in the classifieds. I've never seen this done before and would like your input. Here's what I've come up with so far: Educated, creative individual seeks part or full-time employment in marketing, advertising, PR, graphic design or related field. BA from Purdue University and 5+ years experience. Will consider all positions, including entry-level and assistant. I'm a quick learner who is highly motivated. 1. Since only 14% of jobs are filled from classifieds, your choice. Can't hurt.
2. That's a good idea. No one is doing that anymore so you should stick out.
