the importance of the utilisation factor in the context of lighting design?

- Utilisation is the act of practical usage so I would suggest that that the utilisation factor depends on your market. If you are deisgning for a commercial market where practicality is important then this factor is very important - e.g. if you design a desk lamp for reading it must cast a good light in order for the end user to be able to read. If you are designing for a more artisic market then the utilisation factor will be less important e.g. if you are designing an ornamental lamp then how well it casts light is probably less important to the end user.
- It is a factor you can look up or sensibly assess. A little used store can be derated to say 10% of full capacity.
