I've just bought a house (modern) and there's a mould patch on the ceiling under the bathroom?
There is an old mould patch on the ceiling underneath the bathroom. The house was built in 2000 so it's fairly new. Any ideas or should I just leave it it?

- Cut out the bad panel and see what's above it. Source has to be somewhere. Hmmmm.
- First, fix the leak, then cut out and patch the ceiling
- Get a real estate lawyer & see why this escaped the pre-buy inspector's attention. That is going to involve some serious removal of lumber and a real fix for the source of the problem (improper venting, etc.) Brace yourself, and don't go it alone.
- There appears to be a water seepage. Check the sealing and do water sealing treatment.
- It would be best to tear the mold patch out, because it can be very hazardous to your health, also if you have a mold patch their may be other existing problems...like for instance,it may be the plumbing or perhaps the roof,it's not a major problem(not expensive)If you would like to discuss it further you can e-mail me at baby_gail_1994@sbcglobal.net,I hope this helped!
- Sounds like there's a leak from the Bath. Ignoring something like that will not make it go away. That needs to be dealt with, and soon. It will just continue to get worse, and an expanding mould patch is risky to your health, not to mention the value of your home.
