To all the KIDS who SURVIVED the 1930's 40's50's60's& 70's!!!!! First, we survived being born to mothers who smoked and/or drank while they were pregnant. They took aspirin, ate blue cheese dressing, tuna from a can and didn't get tested for diabetes. Then after that trauma, we were put to sleep on our tummies in baby cribs covered with bright colored lead-base paints. We had NO child proof lids on medicine bottles locks on doors or cabinets and when we rode our bikes we had ball caps on our heads Not helmets. As infants and children we would ride in cars with no car seats no booster seats no seat belts no air bags bald tires and some times no brakes. Riding in the back of a pick-up truck ,On a warm sunny day was a special treat for us kids ( when we were small) What memories. We drank water from a garden hose and NOT a bottle. We shared one soft drink amoung four people,From one bottle, and no one actually died from it. We ate cupcakes, white bread, real butter and bacon. We drank Kool- Aid made with real sugar and we weren't Over weight. WHY????? Because we were always out side PLAYING..... That's WHY!! We would leave homeas soon as we were allowed to go outside most times in the morning,And play all day as long as we were back before the street lights came on. No one was able to reach us all day. And we were O.K. We would spend hours building our Go-Carts or play areas etc.etc. Out of scrap woods and what ever we could find, and then run the carts down the biggest hill we could find,Just to find out we had forgot the brakes. After running into trees, bushes fences we finally got the brake thing down (the feet). We did not have Play Stations, Nintendo's, or X Boxes, there were no video games, no 150 channels on the TV,No video movies or DVD's no surround-sound or CD"s no Cell phones, No Computers, No Internet and No Chat rooms. We had FRIENDS and We were OUTSIDE and had lots of Fun buy ourselves. We fell from trees, got cuts, broken bones scrapes from falls or bad hits from the moves we did but no lawsuites came from any of this our accidents. We ate dirt worms mud pies and the worms did not live in us and the dirt did not harm us either and we would do again if we were kids again. We were given BB guns at age 10 made up games with sticks rope wood any thing we could find was a new toy for us and yes we were told you will put an eye out with that so let it be but never really did do any harm. We rode bikes or walked around skats some times but walkes more than not.Go to a friengs home play kicked rockes to see how far they would go played marbles in the road rolled best there than dirt. Little League had try outs and not everyone made the team. Those who didn't had to learn to deal with Disappointment. IMAGINE THAT!! The idea of a parent bailing us out if we broke the law was unheard of. They actually sided with the law. These generations have produced some of the best risk-takers, problem solvers and inventors ever. The past 50 years have been an Explosion of INNOVATION and NEW IDEAS. We had Freedom, Failure, Success and Responsibility and we learned hoe to deal with it all. IF YOU ARE ONE OF THEM............. CONGRATULAITIONS!!!!!! WE HAD THE CHANCE TO GROW UP AS KIDS>>>>>>>>>>>>>>
