What is a great/unique anniversary gift for a mechanic boyfriend?

My boyfriend (soon to be fiancee) and I celebrate our two-year anniversary on 11/11 and I need some ideas on what to get him. I don't pretend to know anything about tools so I leave all of that stuff to him since he knows which ones he likes best.He is a 29-year-old Chevy man that loves hockey, football, Nascar, and drag racing, but we have limited space in the house (hoping to move soon) and items that collect dust are no fun. He doesn't have any spare time working 6 days a week at 12 hours a day so any time-consuming gifts are out of the question. He rarely takes a day off. Also, because of this, he really doesn't have any hobbies other than watching/attending sporting events or spending time with me. I didn't really want to spend much more than $100. I was hoping to get him a cool (new) gadget he could use at the shop but I have no idea where to look. Have any ideas? By the way, we live near Dallas, Texas.

  1. I would let him get his own gadgets, but perhaps you could get him some great NASCAR clothing or memorabilia.
  2. Check this website - http://www.herringtoncatalog.com/tools---gadgets.html You could always get him a magazine subscription having something to do with his hobbies. I know for a fact that we guys like any gadget regardless or how big or expensive it is, specially if it does or serves more than one purpose. A good idea are those self adjusting wrenches, they come in handy when your hands are busy.
  3. I had this come up w/ me and my husband (mechanic) He's a Snap-On guy. I called the rep and asked what my husband had been interested in, then bought it. We also had a "date" for his favorite football team. I just put together some high calorie munchies, got some beer and set the date, then we watched it together at home. He thought it was great and he had bragging rights w/ the guys at the shop.
  4. I like Laurie B's idea. I was gonna mention Snap-On. If you contact a rep in your area (you can find one by going to this site http://www.snapon.com/customer_service/tech_rep_finder_pg1.asp ) Even if your guy doesn't go for Snap On exclusively, Snap on always has some special items that any guy would love. I have purchased gift for my father from them several times and he is far from a mechanic but the quality of the product always make it worth it. I am sure you might be able to find the same if your guy prefers Mac tools
  5. When he shows up at your place welcome him in a mechanic uniform but put on playmate bunny ears...so that he'll be curious if there's more to discover!
  6. clothing usually does the trick, something with his favorite team or driver
