So if evolution is logical how come you always trip up on the most simple logic..?

that you CANNOT get something from nothing? For example if the earth were the result of THE BIG BANG which generally agreed would make a lot of MESS designed all organisms I could logically conclude that lighting a stick of dynamite and placing it in the middle of my kitchen would produce a lovely cup of tea just how i like it- the teabag, the milk, the sugar, the hot water would all combine in the mug to produce this perfect cup of tea. Or not? You tell me. I would suggest you explained your answer further "ablex". My question isn't designed to offend- what i've said is the simple logical conclusion i've come to regarding this. As regards your religiously offensive tone "Road Horse tm (Not To Be Cloned)" i'd like for you and people like you to just realise that an all powerful God doesn't NEED to be created- as we are (procreated even)- so therefore is above such STRICT UNIVERSAL LAWS. Timothy S you question where "my god" would get the materials to create life if there were none i.e my statement regarding nothingness to begin with. That's a rather interesting point, but not something which will make me flounder as you all so wish. If any of you considered for one moment that perhaps there IS a greater dynamic force such as the one that created the universe you'd realise how intricate and beautifully designed this planet is, minus all problems this earth would be extraordinarily beautiful. And i'd ask you- are we any closer to creating life from a laboratory then we were at your 3 billion years ago; its a bloody long wait, is it not? Is your evolution REALLY survival of the fittest?

  1. No one says that. Well, except creationist's making strawman arguments.
  2. that's a misconception your cups of tea do not have to work on themselves to passs genes into next generation.
  3. For the trillionth time, Evolution deals with the variation of life, not how life spawned and Bing Bang is Physics, stop clumping things together. That is one of the most absurd things I have ever heard. You were home schooled, weren't you?!
  4. The idea that something came from nothing is a creationist's argument. Evolution doesn't say that and neither does Big Bang Theory. Perhaps a little time in the Science section would help clarify.
  5. You have to remember that the end result is just what it is - a random result. If you light a stick of dynamite in your kitchen expecting a cup of tea, you will be disappointed. But if you don't have a particular outcome in mind, you will surely find something of interest.
  6. They are 3 degrees of Science. First degree - an event has been witnessed and can be reproduced in a lab. Second degree - An event was witnessed but cannot be reproduced in a lab. Third degree - An event was not witnessed, it cannot be reproduced in a lab therefore it is a theory. I believe, that Genesis tells us that God created perfect humans in his image but following the original sin we were punished and God kicked us out of his perfect creation. Maybe, at that point evolution started as we had to restart from animal status through to perfect human. That means that having eaten from the tree of knowledge we had to start from square one but as creation point to his creator it is inevitable that in time our devine status will be restored.
  7. Dawkins says we may have come from Aliens!
  8. "...that you CANNOT get something from nothing?" Ditto for your god...
  9. When you propose something simple AND logical, let me know. I'll be waiting on the edge of my seat.
  10. First, you should understand that evolution has nothing to do with the big bang. Nothing. Second, nobody claims that the material present during the Big Bang event came from "nothing." Only Creationists claim that. Third, there's a significant difference between how stars and planets are formed and how a cup of tea is made. If you'd like me to give you a detailed explanation about the process of star and planet formation, which humans have observed in other parts of the galaxy and universe, I'd be more than happy to email you, but it would probably be easier if you just did a search on Google or Wikipedia yourself.
  11. Right. But you're forgetting one other universal constant. Things change. Evolution is slow. The molecules that made up the first proteins weren't nothing. The carbon atoms that made up the first sugars weren't nothing. The big bang has nothing to do with "a lot of mess designed organisms". Thats just a very poor understanding of physics and biology talking.
  12. No scientists says the universe came from nothing. First law of thermodynamics: Matter can not be created or destroyed. There is no beginning to matter. The atoms in our bodies have always been in existence, the particles that comprised the Big Bang existed forever before that. There is just no beginning, as far as science can tell, because as you say, something can't come from nothing. What about God though? Did he just pop into existence? Your tea analogy leaves a lot to be desired as well. It would make more sense if the stick of dynamite exploded millions and millions of times, each time picking from everything in your kitchen only the items that would produce a perfect cup of tea (that is natural selection). What you describe is more akin to creationism. Somehow, MAGICALLY, everything comes out perfectly from nothingness.
  13. You fail to acknowledge the millions of organisms that didn't make it. Survival of the fittest etc. Also, BB theory does not state that there was nothing to begin with. It is also a completely different topic to evolution. You see the theory of evolution does not say anything about any organism being designed. That's sort of the point. It's essentially a gradual process of elimination. As for your something from nothing argument, if that holds true then what did your chosen deity use to make the universe?
  14. Skipping the fact evolution does not in any way shape or form say how life got underway, only saying what it likely did once it started... "You cannot get something from nothing".... Easy - snowflakes. Water molecules in random motion as a gas in the atmosphere strangely come together to form magnificent patterns as snow. No designer involved. There's your dynamite and cup of tea. No mention of where the water came from in the first place, but you didn't pose that problem in this question.
  15. Evolution has nothing to do with the big bang. Quantum physics shows that you CAN get something out of nothing thanks to the natural uncertainty on the nuclear scale of things. It is, however, very hard to understand, but it is a logical explanation supported by scientific observations.
  16. You appreciate, I presume, that the 'Big Bang' was not an "explosion in space" but rather the event 13 billion years ago in which space, time and energy were all created? You understand, I guess, that the Einstein equation shows matter and energy to be equivalent? You follow the argument, I hope, that matter could therefore have condensed out of this initial energy? And you remember your physics lessons, I trust, that told you hydrogen was the simplest element? From these, matter was created and over a long period of time, produced the sun and the earth. Got it so far? Okay, once we have the earth, chemistry can start. Easiest is organic chemistry based on carbon. That produces complex molecules which can then compete with one another, to produce life. And once we have life, evolution gets started because - and here's the crucial bit - each generation adds a little bit of additional complexity, until what results (4 billion years later) is somebody capable of sitting at a computer and typing. Not a cup of tea in sight, I'm afraid; you have to do that for yourself! :-)
  17. Please, for your own sake, learn to science. Nobody is saying something came from nothing. Some tips for everyone here: 1. Evolution, abiogenesis and the big bang aren't the same, they're three separate things. 2. Evolution is logical and has proof (I can give you proof if you like). 3. You can't expect everyone to know all the answers 4. This is the religion section, not the bloody science section. You can't expect people to know complex science just because they don't believe in God. It doesn't work like that does it? If it did there wouldn't be religious scientists would there?
  18. Now this is a bit of a STRAW MAN FACE PLANT, because A) Evolution is completely different from cosmology. B) Your analogy is shockingly wrong The earth was essentially formed from the big bang but not directly, like if i built a robot and the robot built a car it could be thought that i built the car but you would be missing a stage. The big bang was the beginning, it released hydrogen into space. Next stars formed and when they exploded they created heavier elements (iron lead etc), then our solar system was formed from fragments of exploded stars. Next the earth goes through a long phase of being hot and pounded by asteroids, after a while the earth collides with a smaller planet which then forms the moon, once the moon is in place the orbit of the earth stabalises and the temperature does also. Once Temperature and conditions stabilised abiogenisis takes places, the chances of this happening are slim i give you that perhaps one in a billion! But here we can apply the anthropic principle, how many galaxies in the universe (at least thousands) how many stars in the universe (billions) how many planets (thousands of billions at a low estimate) so out of every thousand planets one may be similar to earth so the chances of it happening are now within reach! Once abiogenisis takes place we leave the realms of probabliltiy and stretch on into evolution, here is the most misunderstood process ever! People appear to assume that evolution is some sort of random process which in some ways it is, but for all the randomness the mistakes made by evolution are cut out by death there bye increasing the amount of "non mistakes" People seem to think that a species cant just turn into another and the point is they DON'T. They gradually seperate over a period of 4 billion years a time scale that the human mind is unable to even contemplate! The proof of evolution is in front of our eyes, all animals descend from a common ancestor! Take tigers and lions for example they have developed from a common ancestor perhaps not that long ago, all people agree that they are a seperate species but they are still capable of breeding and producing cubs, (but the cubs themselves cant reproduce this is how we know they are seperate species). Does this not tell you that they are closely related?
  19. we havent tripped up,because we dont have all the answers nobody can.and any way your argument doesnt hold up after the big bang it took millions and millions of years for life to evolve it didnt just appear straight away like you expect your cup of tea to appear after the explosion in your kitchen conditions wouldnt be right for your cup of tea to appear conditions were right for life to evolve after the big bang
  20. So "you CANNOT get something from nothing" Interesting.- so where did god (gods) come from? Nothing? Just does not answer the 'origins' question does it?
  21. You are a silly rabbit. Oh, and in the future, when you are attempting to attack another group through text, it helps to double-check what you write. Few things are more pathetic than a 'y'all iz retardud' assault. But cheers on your hot tea focus. I would have gone with a nice rum and coke.
  22. From what you say, one can easily and "logically conclude" that you have no idea what you're talking about. When you don't know what you're talking about, your logical conclusions become lies. So, logically, what you believe about evolution and the big bang is a lie....
  23. Actually Ms Oi Oi, all phenomena arise from and dissolve back into Nothing! Emptiness is the Nature of the Universe. Get with the plot.
  24. You sooooooo don't get it. Study cosmology for ages then try criticizing it after you know how logical it is.
  25. I suggest that science and God need not be at odds. Why can't God have directed the big bang as well as evolution. Why do Adam and Eve have to be first hominids and if they were... whom did their children marry? Why couldn't they have been the first true humans amongst Neanderthal? I believe God is why science works. There are rules because he created them. I don't believe in pure chance, just incidental chance. In short, why do the stories told to primitives long ago to help them understand God or, sometimes, enslave them, Have to drive a wedge between God and the science or order of the universe?
  26. Who says that the big bang came from nothing? Who says that the big bang was an "explosion"? Who says that evolution is corrilated with the big bang? You're making assumptions supported by willful ignorance. Why should we respond with a serious answer when you won't take the answers seriously?
