Where should vents be placed for 2 adjacent bathrooms?
Where should I place a vent in an old townhouse with 2 bathrooms back to back ? There is a horizontal run of 4 and 7.5 feet with both sinks sharing the same disposal line to the downpipe. They both drain VERY slowly! The drain pipe is 2" black PVC . I cannot locate the vent before the 2 sinks but might be able to fit it between them - although after would be easiest. Must I use the same diameter as the drain pipe or can the vent be smaller?

- The vent can be smaller. But are you sure there is no vent in the first place. Vents are hidden in the walls and are not visible. Venting usually joins together and only has one main stack that goes through the roof. The vent is usually after the sink or in the wall going up to the attic. Have you tried to clean the traps? You should be able to take them apart and clean them.
