Is Tramontina a good brand for cookware?
Everything in my kitchen is Kitchen Aid (about three years old) and it is all crap. I want to start replacing it one piece at a time with quality pieces that will last for a long time. I'm not a pro so I'm not talking about spending $200 on a pot to cook some Kraft mac-n-cheese in. I just don't want to have to replace it again in such a short time. Here is a link to the one I am looking at... http://www.walmart.com/catalog/product.do?product_id=5716482

- I don't know specifically about the pot that you linked to, but America's Test Kitchen recently rated Tramontina as the best value Dutch oven (a larger, cast iron pot). Again, the pot you linked to and the Dutch oven are very different, but I would feel confident knowing that any portion of the company's line received good reviews from such a respected source.
- yes they are, my history teacher was the creators nephew.
- I've got a Tramontina pasta pot with an insert to enable you to pour water out and keep the pasta in as well as a vegetable steamer basket. I love the pot and it was really inexpensive (maybe $30 at Costco). I don't like that pasta top thing though, but my husband does. I think it's a great value and would buy another one again in a heartbeat.
