Who pays for delivery of game show prizes?

I rarely watch game shows, but while home sick today saw part of The Price Is Right. A contestant won a huge outdoor kitchen, containing several appliances all in a big granite and tile unit. Does anyone know who pays to get these huge things delivered to the contestant's home?

  1. Usually the show does, but you pay for taxes and anything like installation and such which goes beyond the actual delivery.
  2. the price is right gets the prizes for free so the show announcer will advertise the item. Then the company pawns off the expence onto the consumer so in the long run we pay for those prizes.
  3. They always have a disclaimer at the end of the show that says, "All contesntants have signed a document acknowledging that city, state, and federal taxes as well as shipping and delivery of prizes are the sole responsibility of the winner."
  4. A lot of the money comes from the commercials that are shown during the breaks - then a lot of those prizes are donated by the makers of the prizes won. Ford donates trucks to them because it boosts sales from people who watch Price is Right... Same with the other specific product dealers... Showing the products gets more sales... So really the price is right is like a big long commercial. A fun commercial that keeps you watching and sends you subliminal messages to buy their products. Keep Smiling!
  5. i don't know but i have always wondered who pays for the prizes.when people walk off the price is right with 10,000 cash or something like a 50,000 car or speed boat whatever who pays for that stuff
  6. Actually my sisters daughter in law was on the Price is Right in the fall of 2007. She won a car playing break th epiggy bank game. She didnt make it to the show case. Anywho, with the car she had to pay all the taxes on the car and they gave her 45 days. It had to be cash and paid in full or she had to forfiet the prize. So she did pay it and she just recieved the car in Oct of 2008. They told her that the car would be shipped to her but she had to wait until that car could make it on a truck that was coming to her state. The car that was in the show is the EXACT car you get. A truck picks it up from the studios. I always thought that if you won a big prize you could take a cash option- not on the price is right and I thought you could choose your own color- not true also. She also won a pinball machine, thats how she got on stage and she and its the exact one from the show...she had to pay for it and after it was delivered they reimbersed her. I guess that is how they are able to give out so many prizes because If I were to win one of the showcases, like todays show was worth 46,000 I would never be able to pay taxes in cash on that with in 45 days! I am sure many forfiet there prizes
