My science project needs help. It's about how interior wall color saves heat energy.? What I'm gonna do is get 2 shoeboxes and put a water bottle and thermometer into each of them. One will be painted black inside, the other white. Every ten minutes or so, I'll take the temperature readings. Then I'll compare the boxes to rooms inside a house. What I want to know is that I have to write a research paper, and I don't really know what to look for. My dad told me to call paint stores and ask them the properties of their paint. What properties? Then he suggested I look up house designs. Can you guys make better sense on this? The box is closed, like a room. and I'm measuring the temperature of the water bottle. How do I find out if reflection plays a part in the process?

  1. It is not due to any properties of paint but the property of black color of maximum absorbance of radiation(energy). Please refer radiation properties for further details
  2. if we see the spectrum of colors (VIBGYOR)it increases from violet to red ,it is also associated with the temperature .
