What is the difference and definition of commercial, retail, hospitality, residential architecture?

What is the definition (or examples) of each of those 4 as it pertains to architecture or interior design projects or real estate? For example, is a restaurant considered commercial or is that hospitality?

Public Comments

  1. Commercial - Office Buildings Retail - Malls, shopping stores, etc. Hospitality - Restaurants, bars, nightclubs... Residential - homes
  2. Restaurant is commercial. We don't spend much time deciding what category of architecture a project falls into. They are just buildings that need to be created and designed and built..
  3. it pertains to the type of occupancy and permitted use by the zoning regulation as set forth in the general and specific plan in the planning department.
