Is it better to purchase Adobe Creative Suite 3 Design Standard for Macs or PCs? Which is more commonly used?

I'm thinking about a career in graphic design and I'm trying to find out which version of the software I should purchase.

2. It used to be that Macintosh was THE only platform for graphic designers, but over the years, there are plenty of PC users as well. It would be better to purchse the version of software for whatever computer you already own - the concepts of the programs are the same, and if you don't currently have a job in the field, you might not want to purchase both the computer and the software at once.
