People who are good with colors!! I will really appreciate your help! A contemporary media room advice, please?
Hello! Me and my husband want to furnish a contemporary/modern-style media room for movies & gaming and lounging. The room already has parquet.. So that is unchangable.. We want to work around the parquet and see what colors would make the room look best without changing it. Now, the room is already painted, but we MIGHT consider painting over it if it means getting the room to look better. I'm just worried it'll ruin the parquet somehow :\ A picture of the room during the night: http://i230.photobucket.com/albums/ee24/dewyn/night.jpg and during the day: http://i230.photobucket.com/albums/ee24/dewyn/day.jpg What I want advice on is: 1) if you were to work on the same paint & parquet colors; what colors of furniture would u furnish the room with? (please include google-image-search pics if you can) 2) if u think the wall paint should be changed, what color paint and what colors for furniture will look best? (please include google-image-search pics if you can) I'm asking because I'm not good at all with interior design. I might post this question another time during the night to get to different users' answers. I really need all the help I can get! Thanks! Close-up of the parquet: http://i230.photobucket.com/albums/ee24/dewyn/IMG_0035.jpg Thanks. I'm REALLY considering changing the wall color now.. so what color paint/furniture do you guys think will look the best? I'm really enjoying the answers I'm getting! Do you guys also think that lime-green(not the blinding kind) on the walls and white furniture would go well, too? More suggestions, please! :D

- well the wall color is sort of...boring and not contemporary at all. It looks a little country. If you have to stick with it try getting furniture that has straight lines. Go for a couch like this http://www.laflat.com/bnsultan-sofa-large-p-285.html ...not that color though...it should be your color preference all furniture should be streamline
- For the paint I think that a darker color would be better for the walls. You don't have to change the florring and if you absolutley had to you could get a little rug. Depending on the type of style you have I would go with either a dark purplish black or a soft chocolate brown accent wall with a different color paint. A friend of mine has a house with toupe walls and a purple accent wall and it looks really good. I think beigeish with a chololate brown accent wall would look great! For furniture i would just get a realy comfortable couch and a TV!
- So you want to ttry and go a little darker, so that the room feels a little warmer. Try a dark green on the walls, dark brown furniture with straight lines, a nice area rug and nice dark window treatments. Also, if its in your budget, get adjustable lighting, so you can dim the lights for movies, or have them up for visiting. other good color options: Dark maroon on the walls, with black or brown furniture. Blue on the walls with dark beige furniture, Or, dark brown on the walls, beige furniture. Keep things kinda simple, nothing distracting in the room, so no busy area rugs. Keep lines simple and straight, colors medium to dark, and everything in your color preferences :)
