what kind of paint do i use?

I'm wanting to make some kitchen art that looks like desserts and I've seen on HGTV one designer used some paint that was thick and fluffy that looked just like cake frosting and I want to know what kind of paint would I use to reach that effect. I'm wanting to make the frosting on cupcakes and cakes look 3D compared to the rest of my artwork it looked like thick fudgy frosting

  1. There's puff paint which you can get in the crafts stores. If you google it, there are also recipes to make your own. Good luck! It sounds like you have a pretty cute idea.
  2. acrylic and get glossy or any acrylic medium to go with it... comes in a white "peanut butter" jar. It makes the acrylic build on top of itself and thicken up.... not to mention last longer. It's MUCH easier to spread. You just mix half and half or whatever you want.
  3. Just layer your paint on thick with a palette knife.
  4. acrylics build up pretty good, one can also use sculpting paste for the basic form of something and paint over that with acrylic (or anything else)
