What are some universities with top programs for illustration, graphic design, and creative writing.?

Im looking for universities with good arts programs but are not actually art schools. Maybe one with a really good communitcations program. them having a good business program would be a bonus too Im looking for universities with good arts programs but are not actually art schools. I also want to know some good, but not top schools for these.. lke backup schools or just schools for if im not good enough for that top ones haha

1. U Penn has a great communications dept....best in the States... def. not an Art School
2. I no you said no art schools, but I go to California College of the Arts in SF. I'm in the Illustration program, it is very rigorous, not a walk in the park. You also learn the business side of the career. Some illustration teachers have you do real illustration jobs for hire from art directors. All the teachers are working illustrations, and there are lots of events where you can network and make contacts with art directors and publishers. If I were you I'd visit all the schools you are interested in, and talk to some of the students, not just the tour guide people. Students are the best way to connect with a college to see what campus life is like.
