Creative project designs?

What are some creative project designs on the background of a big poster? My topic is Ellis Island/ Angel Island. (something about History) I need to make my background of my poster to have a history feeling to it and it has to cover the whole thing. My teacher has shown our class some, and the one I liked was a Newspaper background. It's something like that! Thanks!! and I hope you guys will give me some great ideas.

1. Dunk your paper in coffee first. It makes the paper look all brown, and old. Crumple it up. Then put the New York Times on the Top, with an imaginary date. A headline and picture, then info about your project. After the picture, put By ......... ..............
