Diablo II questions, HELP PLEASE!!!!!!!?

1. What are the differences between the different versions (I do NOT mean LOD)?...I have Diablo II v 1.03 (no LOD), how is that different from Diablo II v 1.10 (no LOD)? Does my game have less weapons/ items/horadric cube recipes? How can I find out what the exact differences are? (I want to know because I'm looking for a specific Unique Weapon, but it may not be in my version at all?) 2. If there ARE major item differences between Diablo II v 1.03 and Diablo II v 1.10 will installing LOD help? If I intall LOD, will my Diablo II be automatically "upgraded" to v 1.10 and I'll be able to get the items I couldn't get in my normal Diablo II v 1.03 version? Thanks very much!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! P.S. - The weapon I'm looking for is called "Ripsaw" and it's a Unique Weapon, a Flamberge. I've been Gambling, but I've never even SEEN a Flamberge, I think... I also want the Unique Shield "Swordback Hold", the Unique Armors "Silks of the Victor" and "Rattlecage," and the Unique Shield "Bverrit Keep." P.P.S. - I'm Level 20, I just started Act 3 (haven't even completed the Jade Figurine quest yet, because I'm levelling up) but I usually Gamble in Act 1 with Gheed (because he's closer to my character if I restart my game). P.P.P.S. - Do you think this is an okay level to be in Act 3? Or is my character too low-level / high-level for where I am right now?

  1. LOD has 2 new classes and weapons and items suited for them and there are also tons of new magic weapons because there are new weapon types. I think upgrading will give you all that you are looking for. Also, yes there are tons of items that are not available without LOD. Hope this helps.
  2. The newest patch is called 1.11b. It is a good idea to install LOD, but thats not the problem. 1.03 may be oudated. What you want to do is download the latest patch you can from blizzards website. And to answer your question - no there are not any items in 1.10 that are not in 1.03 The difference is new patches fix small bugs in the game (usually the online portion). So small glitches are fixed in patches, but new items/armor are NOT added.
  3. The versions relate to patches. Patches sometimes contain new content/items, sometimes not. Try poking around on battle.net or the arreat summit and see if you can find patch notes. 2. Hard to say. It depends. The item you want may very well be LoD only. To get the most content, you need the latest version. LoD isn't expensive, so go buy it. You also get two new classes to play, and more content to play through....more items, sets, gems, recipes, etc. What weapon?
