Could use a little interior design help!?

I'm trying to get the same kind of idea as this room for my living room... http://www.myra.homeip.net/images/potterybarnden.jpg My sofa sticks out diagonally in my living room with a console table behind it, so I can't put the picture collection above it but I do have a long, short book case against one wall. Would it look too cluttered to have a picture collection like that over the book case? Any kind of tips to get this same look would be much appreciated.

1. I think it would be OK, but why don't you try taping/tacking a bunch of sheets of paper up there to represent the pictures and see how it looks.

3. Pictures above short bookcases will look great. I did that in my old house and it turned out fine.
4. Shelves or a nice modern bookcase. BTW if that is your LR, you have awesome taste for peaceful, light rooms. You could also buy a cedar chest that works as a sitting place while taking shoes off or as a coffee table or put in a corner diagonally, or whatever, I can't see much of the dimensions of the room so, I can't really do much more than what I've just said.
5. That's nice. You could set the pictures on the console table.
