interior designing for a living room?

the couch is brown leather like this http://www.everythingfurniture.com/off-leather-sofa-2.html the other furniture is like a dark brown wood color and the walls are a neutral cream-like color. i wanted opinions on colors to decorate with..i was thinking burnt orange, dark reds, and tans possibly?? also, does anyone know any do-it-yourself, cheap ideas to create home decor for the living room also? i want it to be chic, modern, and classy. all help would be greatly appreciated:) thanks!

2. I absolutely love that couch! Since you are starting with a very neutral base, you can really go with just about any color you love. It seems that since you mentioned orange and red, you like a very warm feel. I totally agree! I am an interior designer and home remodel expert in West Virginia, and when I am helping a client make color choices, I always start them off by asking them to pick a large item they absolutely love. Area rugs are a great place to start. Pick one that you love everything about...the pattern, the tone, the colors, the way it makes you feel.
