What gift unique to Mexico would you like to receive?
Is there any item from Mexico that is either impossible or difficult to find in the U.S. that you would enjoy receiving as a gift?

- There are so many wonderful items created in Mexico! I assume that fragile, bulky or heavy things would be a hassle for the giver of the item. Light, sturdy and easy to transport items include: a small silver item (a tie tack or cuff links or bracelet or pin) perhaps from Taxco; a replica of a painting or mural by Diego Rivera or Frida Kahlo or any of a number of great artists; a small piece of artwork from a contemporary artist or craftsman; a replica piece of Aztec or Mayan or other indigenous art; a cookbook with recipes like mole; a book of photographs like a day in Mexico; a huipil or other fabric creation like a purse... Your question makes me remember the wonderful visit I enjoyed with friends to Medico City and the Yucatan, and wish that I could visit again!
- I would love to have a large intricate Alebrijes form Oaxaca. There was a tienda in Ajijic selling Oaxacan folk art for a short time but it closed before I could buy anything. <sigh>
- A hammock from the Yucatan. See pictures in the link below.
- A guayabera which is a really nice shirt, there are different kinds of Guayaberas and the real good ones would cost up to $500 USD.
