Question: Why, if you do not believe in Evolution because you feel life is “Too Complicated”, do you spend hours reading the bible, watching sitcoms, talking on the phone, researching that recipe, downloading porn… Whatever you spend hour after hour doing, just to kill time, yet you refuse to take even a single hour out of your life to use the SAME SEARCH ENGINE that led you to that “Perfect” pair of pants at GAP to even TRY and understand the basis of ALL LIFE on this planet? Body Text: To me, saying “I don’t believe in Evolution because I don’t understand it” is like saying “I think Microwaves run on magic because I don’t understand it.” When I questioned how a microwave worked, I sat down at my computer and turned on Discovery Science Channel, and I did some research and now I get the GENERAL principals behind how a microwave works. The SAME can be done for the topic of Evolution. There is even a show on History Channel called “Evolve” that, every week, describes the different aspects that most carbon based life forms share and explains how they came about… I’m watching the episode on “Skin” right now… I have “Sex”, “Guts”, & “Eyes” on my DVR… I have taken half an hour out of my life to set my DVR to record some shows about evolution, and now I have a better understanding of the process of evolution and how ALL life on earth is connected through the evolution of various components… I have a MONTH’S worth of episodes on my DVR right now and instead of “Channel Surfing” and finding mindless sitcoms or reality TV shows to watch, I’m sitting down and watching a documentary on evolution. After that? The last new episode of Modern Marvels about the most dangerous roads. After that? I might watch America’s Test Kitchen. After that? The secret lives of women form Oxygen. After that? The South Park episode called “The Losing Edge”. I have taken some free time and gone to http://www.livescience.com and I have read their articles on Evolution… Again, I’m not an “Expert” but now I have an even deeper understanding of how you can take a basic structure like keratin and tweak it to form hair, feathers, scales… How each animal on earth seems completely different from each other yet each aspect of our bodies is merely a tweak on a single basic design. I’m not an “Expert” now that I have watched a few documentaries and read some articles, but now I at least UNDERSTAND how these processes are POSSIBLE… NOW I can start to connect the dots when I read/see even more NEXT week… THAT is why I believe that Evolution is plausible and real… I have put forth the same effort to understand the Christian bible… I have read it, I have studied it, I have gone in and put the same effort in to understanding the basis for a major religion and it just doesn’t hold up. Creation is basically saying “Things are too complicated so that means a god must have been involved.” Yet when you do the most superficial study of Evolution, you see that it isn’t so complicated… Saying that ANYTHING is “Too complicated” to understand is a cop out because you’re unwilling to take the time to do even the most superficial research on a topic… I know people that won’t even bake a TURKEY because they say it is “Too Complicated” and such defeatist attitudes make me ILL! Turning a blind eye to SIMPLE DOCUMENTATION because you are afraid that comprehension of a topic will make Baby Jesus Cry is NOT “Refuting Evidence” against evolution. Using your own willful ignorance as your REASON behind not ‘believing’ a scientific reality goes against the whole scientific method…

Uh no one says they don't believe it because they don't understand it. They say they don't believe it because they think it is false, even if they don't understand it.
I don't think evolution is that complicated at all, and makes more sense than anything else. And for someone who does find it confusing, well there are some great websites that explain it step by step, even wikipedia has some great pages on evolution which are really helpful.
We understand it. Its just too far fetched to believe.
by that rationale these same people don't believe in einstein's theory of relativity, nuclear fusion, quantum mechanics, or anything else that requires a bachelor of science to get an understanding of.
People don't say they don't believe it cos they don't understand it (in my experience) but it is true that a lot of people who reject evolution have a deep misunderstanding of how it works, but don't realise. eg. thinking we're descended from chimpanzees. lol.
LMAO - so evolution is "far fetched", but some mystical superbeing in the sky magically making every organism on Earth appear, complete and fully formed, is not? What a muppet. Perhaps one of you fundies can show me evidence of an experiment where fully formed elephants, chimps, whales, giant redwoods, driver ants, monitor lizards etc etc were created out of nothing? Where is your Miller-Urey experiment? To the questioner - you're trying to get through to people who have demonstrated, quite categorically, that they incapable of making rational judgements. It's an exercise in banging your proverbial head against a brick wall. We have to teach people science from an early age. Adult creationists are beyond help, save what they can find for themselves.
i totally agree with you ! you can`t deny something simply because ``it`s too complicate to understand`` and i`m sure most of the believers don`t even know the basics of Evolution .... some believers know a lot about Evolution and still don`t want to believe in it...
Actually, I HAVE studied evolution and I find it to be scientifically impossible. Evolution requires mutations that add genetic information to a creature. However, there has NEVER been a mutation witnessed that adds information, all known mutations either damage or destroy information. Also, natural selection has nothing to do with evolution. With natural selection, a dog might change into a different type of dog, but it is still a dog. A cat stays a cat, and a human is still a human. There are doctors (as in they have a doctorate) in just about every branch of science and history, including evolutionary science, that believe that Bible is true and evolution is false. Many believe the Bible BECAUSE they analyze both sides. Don't generalize by saying that Christians at just lazy and say "God did it" to explain the universe's mysteries. Or, just keep searching for your oort cloud.
you may have "read..watched and heard" all of these ideas or "facts" on why evolution is real based on scientists and all the theories that they put together. But have you ever took your time to see how they use the bible to also prove how the world was made and why things..well...just are? i took many classes and had to do alot of reseach on how the Bible is a way more effective source. There is many places that you should research such as.. the great reef, red dwarf stars, theres a white one to look into also. the grand canyon (research the great flood) and the oldest tree. those are just a few to name off. dont be so closed minded about it. i used to be all for evolution and how God did not exist... it took me the time to research this stuff to get me to believe that God is real and how HE did create all of this. ...the Bible records more scientific evidence than evolution will.

They can't know for sure. It's remotely possible that a piece of flint was in a fast running stream bed and that over time it eroded into what looks like an arrowhead with chisel marks on it. But that isn't the first conclusion the archaeologist would support. but creationism and evolution can co-exist. I believe that earth is well over a billion years. The bible is a jigsaw I admit and somethings don't make sense. 90% of people who have read the bible inside out don't understand it 100%.

Well good for you for trying to understand things better. You are right, that many people will just go watch brainless sitcoms or reality TV and not care about actually trying to learn or understand. Howerver Evolution is just a theroy although widely accepted. "If we accept the idea of human evolution we must also accept the naturalness of every impulse that arises in us. ummm helloo!! science is NEVER 100% havent you heard on the news " o well wine makes you live longer" and next week "well scientists have shown that wine can kill you" turns out science is the one killing...science made an atom bomb...science used babies as tests..
