  1. If its Plasma you want I would recommend LG 42" Plasma HDTV at Curcuit City Or if U want a LCD TV I would recommend a Vizio 47" 1080p LCD HD TV at Target.
  2. No, this is not "a good investment." No TV is, because of the rapid depreciation. :) But it is a good, quality TV! In 40" and up LCDs, Sony is tops. I'd go with Toshiba (a little less expensive) 2nd, and I'd absolutely stay away from cheap crap, like Vizio, Insignia, Element and Polaroid, to name a few, like the plague. Plasma 42" and up is a very viable option in the size range you're interested in! There is only one brand in plasma you should even consider: Panasonic Viera!!! It is the current king of plasma displays, for BOTH performance and reliability. You have too many questions, each of which are some what complex, to really answer here. Go to your local public library and read over the HDTV article in the 3/08 Consumer Reports magazine. Most of your questions will be answered there, or at least give you enough info to be able to ask a question here that can be answered in short form.
