Just got an LG washer and dryer that sit on drawers and they are too big for my laundry closet.?

My laundry space is a closet with bi fold doors. It's 67 inches wide and 33 inches deep. I had to remove the doors because I couldn't close them with the new washer and dryer inside. Now I have about 36 inches of depth to work with. I also lost the use of the upper cabinets because the w & d are 52 1/2 inches tall and I can't reach over them. I don't like being able to see the w & d thru the kitchen and am trying to come up with a way to make the space more usable and more stylish. Does anyone have any ideas or know where I can look?? I've checked HGTV and Diynetwork with no luck. Other people must be having the same problem with these newer, bigger washers and dryers.??!!

  1. No, I measured my space before purchasing mine. Do you not love them, they are so great. I would call a contractor and see what suggestions they can give you.
  2. I don't think I can help you get more space or with any construction however you might try a curved shower rod with a nice curtain to obstruct the view. You can google a bigger list but here's a link: http://www.signaturehardware.com/class224 Good luck.
  3. I saw on one of the episodes of 24 hour makeover (or something like that)..they wanted to fit a desk into a closet, and it wasn't deep enough. The built out a frame over the door frame...bringing the door out another 6 inches..so it closed perfectly and the desk was hidden from view. it looked really nice. Would that work? If you DO this, and can add the doors back..maybe some shelving can be put on the DOORS themselves, from middle to high...so that when the doors close, the shelving sits over the washer/dryer...and you don't have to reach so mcuh to reach what you have on the shelves.
