What is the difference between a Bachelor of Science Interior Design and Bachelor of Fine Arts Interior Design
I have been looking at several schools, and some offer a Bachelor of Science in Interior Design and some a Bachelor of Fine Arts in Interior Design. What is the difference?

- the BS egree usually requires that 50% of the credits must be in "the liberal arts". This means thatthe courses are not related to the major. The BFA typically requires only 25% of the credits be in the liberal arts. Dont dismiss the value of liberal arts courses (literature, drama, science, languages, philosophy, etc) because they will help you to learn to think in different ways. A BFA is likely to have a pretty rigorous final project wherein you desogn and present an original project, ofte in front of the entire department, and sometimes critiques can be pretty intense (I have seen tears at some of these, but only from unprepared students). Read the fine print in the catalog and departmental publications. Map out a typical course sequence in each. Do a side by side comparison. sometimes the first year sequence is identical, allowing you more time to decide. Best of luck!
