- It would depend greatly on the Designer you hire and your location. I am an Interior Designer working in and around the Atlanta area and the going rate here is from $60 to $250+ per hour. Some Designers will charge a percentage of the items you purchase through them, and others will charge a flat fee for the job. A few other things that will affect your cost are the credentials and experience level of your Interior Designer (Some states require a degree and licensing, in other states anyone can call themselves a designer), what look or style you desire, the number of rooms you are furnishing, and also what quality level you expect. A good ballpark if you are not changing anything structurally, and don't have existing items going into the room, to purchase everything (furniture, window treatments, accessories, rugs, lighting, etc.) is at least $10,000 per room. Obviously extremely large or small rooms would vary, as would a child's room, but this should give you a rough ballpark. One more thing I feel I should mention, is that any self respecting Designer should do their best to stay within the budget you have set. If your current budget is small, then you can work in phases (as the budget allows) to complete each room until the house is finished. On the other hand, if your timeline for completion is short, expect to pay more. I hope this has helped answer your question. Feel free to contact me should you have any more Interior Design related questions, as I am glad to help people understand how Interior Designers work, and to let the public know that we are not all Divas. :~)
