Recent innovations to make Germany greener?

I need to know about any innovations since 2000 to make Germany more environmentally friendly and I haven't had much luck on the Internet. I was wondering if anyone could help me out? The more specific, the better. Thanks very much!

1. I have heard they are doing a lot, but not sure where I saw it (maybe on PBS). They are utilizing land on the right of way of expressways (autobaun) for solar electic. And encouraging many to use solar on buildings and commercial businesses (stores, etc.). Do a web search for "Germany solar".
2. 'feed in tariff' is their mechanism to give alternative energy producers (including domestic) a good guaranteed rate for electricity sold to the grid, and has worked amazingly well. let s hope we get it here in uk soon.
3. plant trees,dont waste water,,and dont allow immigrants,,,,,,,,germany will be greener and healthy
