Our Cold tap has stopped working, but the hot works fine... whats wrong?
Today our cold tap downstairs in the kitchen and outdoor tap stopped working, the tap turns without any resistance, but the hot one works absolutely fine. Upstairs the bath and sink are fine and work without any problems. whats wrong? is it easy to fix? there seems to be just one circular cap which when turned nothing actually happens.... thats the only thing on there that i can see

- Check and see if the shut off valve (found under the sink) is closed, turn it clockwise and that will open the valve to let the cold water in. Your main water supply shut off valve (usually in the basement) is obviously fine because your other sinks are working fine,so leave that one alone. It could also be a faucet malfunction. Phone the hardware store and ask for the plumbing dept. and tell them whats happening and they may suggest something for you if its your faucet. Good luck
- No mains water? The hot and bath etc come from the tank. The water co have dug up the street, had to switch off the water. or some kids have switched off the water for your house in the street (under the cover on the pavement) The tank will empty soon, then you will have no water.
- Check your cold water inlet valves to see if they have been turned off.
- i think you have plumbing issues!
- Check the valves connected to tap water. If you are not surte which valves is which. Check each one of them. See if any of teh valves were closed. You sure know to determine when a valve is off or on, yes?
- problely something at the back of your kicthen you might not need a plumber but you could try turning a valve
- replace the whole faucet
- Phone the water company up if you have checked the valves are open becouse they are always trying to stop leaks holding all the traffic up. Then along will come the gas company and re-dig the same hole up and so on.(i feel better now i have got that of my chest)
