A question for all you creative moms?
Yes I know this is not a baby related question...but I don't like to leave my comfort zone... I am working on the committee for a fundraiser for a local charity. I need to come up with a theme for a basket that will be auctioned off. The audience at the event that it is being auctioned at will be mostly parents of small children and teachers. Any thought for a theme and/or items to put in the basket? I'm looking for something really unique.... Loving the ideas so far!! I should add that budget is not an issue. I can just a lot of stuff donated and a lot of people in my community with deep pockets have already volunteered to give me whatever I want for it. I mean I can get...not I can just

- How about something completely dedicated to finger play? You could put hands on activities in there such as play dough, finger paints (the washable kind!), and maybe little finger puppets or something. You could also fill it with healthy finger foods like some of those 100% fruit juice gummie treats. It's all I could think of, but maybe it could work!
- How about a day at the beach? You could include beach balls, sand buckets, shovels, towels, a sand castle making kit, and a small cooler for drinks and snacks. You could also include sunblock and water toys. Don't forget small snacks and juice boxes. It all depends on your budget. There's a ton of different things that you could mix and match for a day at the beach.
- Little kid survival basket (lol)? Stuff like: Sunblock, hand sanitizer, color books/crayons, snacks, wet naps, activity books, bottled water, sippy cups, etc. Art/Crafts & Scrapbooking basket? Stuff like: double stick tape, stickers, pretty paper, cut outs, a blank scrapbook, pipe cleaners, stamps (the ink kind), glitter, glue, buttons, yarn, etc. Healthy moms and kids basket? Stuff like: 100 calorie snack packs, bottled water, veggie chips, low fat jello-cups, Juicy juice, carrot/celery snack packs, Wheat Thins, Vitamin water, etc. Summer fun basket? Stuff like: goggle/water masks, arm floaties, innertube/raft (deflated of course, lol), plastic bucket, plastic shovel, sun hats, sunblock, pool toys, sprinkler attachment, pool diapers, aloe vera gel, fun sunglasses, etc. Hope that helps :)
- Buy a Terra Cotta Clay Pot or some other decorative pot (they are cheap, $5-10), put inside a smaller pot (for child), a small bag of potting soil, some flower seeds, gardening gloves, a couple cheap gardening tools, and a small plastic set for child (Ive seen them all over, Target, Big Lots, etc. in the seasonal department)...anything else cheap you can find and wrap it in cellophane paper, bunched at the top with a bow. Mom and child can plant flowers together.
- You could do a Backyard BBQ theme. Include things for the whole family like yard toys or toy BBQ items, funky patio lights, outdoor table accessories, place mats, napkins, BBQ tools, BBQ sauce, spices, marinade, gift certificate to local butcher, etc...
