  1. My guess, all parts of it, like dishwasher, stove, oven, microwave, cupboards etc. are independent and you can make your own combination (as is common here).. As opposed to just one chunk, with a particular set of things that are not interchangable. Just a guess, because.. that's generally what modular means in case of everything :)
  2. Modular kitchens are kitchens with expanable cabinets and counters, that you can add to as you can afford....they are not permanently installed. Here is a good website to further explain it. http://www.hgtv.com/hgtv/dc_design_kitchen/article/0,1793,HGTV_3375_1392661,00.html
  3. The modern kitchen cabinets Technical and design evolution have brought a new, advanced view of the modern kitchens, from a "static" concept of the built-in tiled kitchen cabinetry, to a new interpretation of contemporary house furnishing. Despite appearances, the solid and functional kitchens are the result of a time-tested series of modular elements. Modular kitchens have the typical kitchen components (base units, wall units, column units and appliances) with a family of tile-ready components designed for application of ceramic modules, creating the possibility of adding true architectural structures to kitchen furnishings. Modular kitchens enhance the look of a classic masonry + ceramic structure with all the advantages of the most advanced modular furnishings programs: complete modularity, flexible dimensions, exceptional practicality, accessoried cabinets, easy integration with any type of kitchen appliance, quick and simple installation.
