  1. go with a light green, or a mint green it looks really beautiful with the dark wood, if you wanted to do in two colors, a light beige combined with the mint green would be absolutely beautful! you could also try this website its interiordec.about.com
  2. I'd do two different, but complimentary, colors.
  3. use a contrasting color against the wood, two colors, and try to keep the colors light :) happy painting :)
  4. I would color each wall a color that accents your overall design and color scheme, using certain walls as accents. Im person of bold color choices like Blues and greens, or oranges and red and yellows, i feel they make a statement when you walk in. Or having a one bold color wall painted, making it the focal wall. My living room is Blue with Yellow accents, and my kitchen is RED. The dishwasher and sink need to place together, they belong together. If the dishwasher is on the island, the sink should be placed next to it.
  5. Do the livingroom area in a different color, but for the kitchen area that has the dark chocolate...Use the modern light shade of a lime green. It goes good with dark brown, and the cherry wood should blend in well. Do the livingroom in a different color...Maybe some chocolated, tans or earthtones, big pillows, natural wood panel horizontal blinds, and some plants.
  6. I think you should talk it over with your family maby get a few designers to come check out the place and help you go through some color thoughts. ps: good luck choosing the right for your home. And i hope you win that dream house contest!
  7. WOW...that sounds nice! When you mentioned peppercorn (dark wood tone)... I think you need something that is a light medium shade. Find a Pottery Barn Catalog and look at the neutral colors they tend to use with white trim and dark woods. I think that will give you some ideas. I like the modern clean "Zen" look. I like to relax in my house. I am not into punching it up with bold color or strong patterns. The more natural and nature-like the better for me. I also vote for using the same wall color...it will give a more spacious feel. If anything...I would use the same color....just a darker or lighter shade for the room separation. Good Luck!
  8. The kitchen area is dark enough with the floor & cabinets. I would suggest a mauve color; especially, the kitchen area. The remaining space I would do 3 walls mauve and add a dark color (such as chocolate brown) on the 4th wall of the living room. This will not make the kitchen 'all' dark and still tie it into the living room. The 4th wall of living room in a dark color will compliment the kitchen's dark shades and still 'separate' the two connecting rooms.
  9. cherry wood is warm and your pool is blue (a cool color)...i would pick a warm camel/butternut hue for the kitchen (in a light - to medium shade). that will look great against the cabinets and it's a complimentary color to blue which will make the space flow nicely from room to room. Once you have your paint swatch just go down one or two depths to a darker shade of the same color. use the darker shade in your living room. it will make the space cozy and the lighter shade will brighten up your kitchen. Visit a starbucks near you...they usually have this warm camel color on their walls. it's very popular and it works for all seasons. Your place sounds amazing...good luck!
