Starting a birth announcement printing business from home?

I want to start a home business designing and printing birth announcements and invitations. Can anyone share some light as to how do I get started? I don't need help with the design aspect. I want to know if I should invest in buying high quality printers or outsource my printing.

1. It depends on the amount of money you want to invest right from the beginning. You should compare prices of printer vs. outsourcing. If it is going to be more beneficial to purchase a printer, then that is what I suggest. Remeber, you can depreciate the printer and use it as a deduction on your taxes. If you purchase a printer you would be able to keep your customer's costs down because you won't be paying a fee to the printing company. Check with your state department of revenue to see what the requirements are for starting a business. You may be required to collect and report sales tax, etc.
