Programmable light switch question?

Just moved into a new house and there's this light switch that controls the front outdoor light by the door. It looks very new but I can't find it anywhere online or a brand name to run a search. Here's my question: Its a very simple looking design with just a spinning wheel that has the 24 hours listed like a clock. If you push the 'wheel' the lights goes on, push it again they turn off. Does anyone have any idea of how to set the timer on it so the lights go off and on automatically? I've tried spinning it to 4pm pressing the button and then turning it to 6am and pressing it again... I have no idea how to set this thing. Also, the wheel is stationery at all times - so it doesnt automatically spin around like one of those light timers you plug into a lamp... Help please....
