Unique items from Israel?

My dad is going to Israel for business next week. But the plane ticket costs around $2,100 and I'm going to Germany in a few weeks so I'm not allowed to come along (very sad about this, he's also going to Brazil the next week and I won't get to go on that trip either) So since I can't go to Israel, I'm asking my dad to bring a little bit of Israel to me. What sort of things should I ask for? What kind of jewelry, pottery, fabric, art, etc. that is uniquely Israeli should I send him after?

  1. In Israel anything made of olive wood is usually handmade. If he will be in Jerusalem on the "via della rose" there are many shops that deal with hand made nativity sets. When I was there the cost of a 12 piece set was around $300.00, I had it shipped back home for another $40.00. Just as a side bit of info, if he's shipping anything to the USA be sure to keep the receipt..things often become "lost." The gold in Elat is beautiful 18 kt, it can be bought anywhere in Israel. SOAP! dead Sea soap is called Ahava, it's dark in color (because of the minerals in the dead sea) and leaves your skin ssoo soft. hope this helps..any more questions i'll be happy to help
  2. well, you could ask him to get you a lapiz lazuli, or torquise necklace, it is very popular in israel, or the dead see soaps and lotions are really good if you like those kindu things. I wouldnt ask for clothes, because your dad will probably not bring back exactly what you'd want, i know my dad doesnt have great fashion sense haha. good luck! have fun in Germany!
  3. Hi, You can ask for religious items like a "KIPPA" the head cover religious Jews wear. You can ask for hand made items - Israel specially in the holy city is well known for.
  4. Bullets , they have a lot , and use them freely
  5. Israeli Jewlery is amazing! There are many amazing israeli jewlery designers such as Michal Negrin, Ayala Bar, Lali and more. They have a lot of t shirts here too- ones that say sports teams names in hebrew on them and other funny things like that.. Body moisturizing products are another popular thing that people buy here, there are special dead sea products that do amazing things!! there is definately no shortage of nice gifts that you could get from israel...
  6. A 'חמסה' (hamsa) it's like a hand with two thumbs and it's a good luck symbol.
