How can I economically ship items from overseas to the US?
I have access to unique items here which I can buy cheaply and fetch pricesin the U.S. that are 500-700% above my cost. I will not be dealing in heavy volume. How can I ship prudently? I know customs will also be a factor. Thanks! I have never done this before.

- Well try a shippping term called "Grouppage" which means you can share a container with two or three merchants having small shipments similar to yours. Also this can be studied better if you can specify your shipping origin and destination.
- The answer depends on the weight of your packages and on trade agreements between your country and the US. I ship my handmade jewelry pieces from Israel to the US via registered airmail. It's a very reliable, low cost method of shipping, which takes no more than 2 weeks to deliver. Recommended. Sarit. http://sarit-jewelry.com
- If you are likely to get 500 to 700% more than the original value, courier service will be preferable for prompt delivery. But, if the items are not costly, the courier service will be quite burdensome on your business. In that case the Insured registered parce mail of the Post office of your country will be more suitable for you. But, all these suggestions would be on hypothetical basis. The real life suggestions can be had only after you give some specification of the country of origin, item name, weight or volume of the item, price range (cost), your problem can be solved taking in to all the factors, whether import of such items are on OGL or not of the USA. Also whether those items are not banned to be imported from your country under some act of the US Govt., or that is not banned to be mailed by post having some objectionable or liquid material. - You may want to find an agent or distributor in the U.S. who would import a quantity of your items and then resell them. This will allow for one shipment and one clearance through customs and easy distribution throughout the U.S. With 500-700% markup there is plenty of room for the agent/distributor to make a profit as well.
- You can save up to 28% from UPS on international shipping. visit www.abnsave.com to save money on every day office supplies and services from national vendors like Office Depot, Hertz, Kinko's, and UPS.
