- I'm not positive, but you might be thinking of kirigami (or maybe mon-kiri). It's like origami, because paper-folding is involved, but you make cuts in the paper. You can make a lot of symmetrical objects, like those paper snowflake designs kids make. If you go to Wikipedia and search "papercutting" (no quotes), you'll find a short discussion of different kinds of paper arts. You can also search "kirigami" on there and read more about it. If it's what you're looking for, go to Google, search that word, and you should be able to find some tutorials and other pages about it.
- I don't know of any specific papercutting craft where you only fold the paper in a triangle and always end up with a circular design, but there are several types of paper cutting art. One is Scherenschnitte which means "scissor cuts" in German and is the art papercutting design. http://www.geocities.com/heartland/valley/8063/scherenschnitte.htm You can easily make snowflakes, if that's what you want. Here's a simple one: http://highhopes.com/snowflakes.html And more complicated ones: http://www.daves-snowflakes.com/
