What is a good career for me?

Please give me advice. I am looking for a well paid job (with which I can one day support my family) that involves computers and technology. I enjoy using computers and I am considered quite good at it. I was thinking of website design because I am also creative and I enjoy design. What would be good options for me and where can I get more information. Thank you for your help. I just finished high school and I don't know what to go to school for.

Web design plays pretty decently, the median expected salary is $61,000. Video game design is a growing field with comparable pay to web design.
website design pays crap. Any trained chimp with a tool can do it. Don't worry about the money, IT pays well in general. Persue the disciplines that you love and are good at. Join professional sites like "techrepublic.com" and talk to people there. Network with people already in the field and get THEIR opinions of what is going on. Get some face-to-face meetings with hiring managers and ask them where THEY think the future is going, then make your decision.

Website design is not a good choice based on salaries paid. The average salary for a web designer with a bachelor of science degree from a recognized university + 10 years of experience ranges between $50K to $60K. No degree and no formal experience...very low pay scale and tough to raise a family. If you are good with computers, consider learning programming. The challenge with programming is that it is constantly changing, i.e., you would need to stay abreast of changes to keep current, e.g., .NET version 3.0 is really hot at the moment and .NET programmers command top dollar -- i.e., six figures. Go to school -- at a minimum get an associates degree in IT. You can work while you learn. Good luck.
Schools like DeVry and Test are good. You don't have to go to school very long and you can make really good money when you are hired. What I normally do is ask google what are the best careers for computers and technology in 2007. You should get some good links.
