Art Directors / Creative Directors - What kind of Graphic Design Portfolio do you prefer?
Are the days of big 16 x 20 Portfolios and pieces mounted on letramex over? I have been in the Graphic Design field for 3 years now (5 including interning experience) . I am ready to leave my current job with an Ad Agency for something more challenging. I want to have the best of the best portfolio wise, but I also DO NOT want anything dated. As far as interviews go I always direct them to my website as well as leave a "leave behind" CD with all my work, but when it comes to me displaying and showing my work during the actual interview, do I need something smaller? Thanks so much!!

- Just print a 8.5"x11" book. I like these for the interview: http://www.amazon.com/Profolio-Professional-Portfolio-PolyGlass-Pages/dp/B000H7HDQ0/ref=pd_bbs_3/104-1361658-7287100?ie=UTF8&s=electronics&qid=1187892207&sr=8-3 You should also bring a duplicate to leave behind– NOT A CD!!!. When I interview 20 people I don't have time to navigate through your CD. Don't make me do all the work. I won't hire you if you're lazy. Not the right size but I wanted to show you what they look like (for leave behind): http://www.amazon.com/Profolio-Professional-Portfolio-PolyGlass-Pages/dp/B000H7HDQ0/ref=pd_bbs_3/104-1361658-7287100?ie=UTF8&s=electronics&qid=1187892207&sr=8-3 Make sure you tailor your book for each interview. So for example, if they want a logo designer, put that first. If the company's dominant work is brochures, put that first. No more than 24 pages. That's plenty. having a website is nice, but again, it makes me do all the work and I don't have time for that.
