Graphic Design employment agency in Orange County, CA?

I'm a graphic designer in the north Orange County area, and I've been looking for a job for about a month with no success. I am already on job sites like Monster and Careerbuilder, but they don't seem to helping at all because it's impossible to stand out to potential employers when they have a million resumes to choose from. I also frequent craigslist, but I feel like that is a very similar situation. I really just need a full-time job that's not too far from home and pays decently. A couple of friends of mine got jobs through an employment agency, but that particular agency specializes in office and clerical jobs, not creative jobs. I specialize in Photoshop and Illustrator, and I also know InDesign and MS Office, so I'd like to find something that fits my skills that is not entry-level. In short, does anyone know of a job placement agency in or near the Long Beach/OC area that can help me find a graphic design job?

  1. I can understand your situation but have ever thought about providing your skills as a virtual graphic designer working from a home office. Basically, you can be a freelancer in graphic designing doing a full time job from your house. I believe that you got the skills to be a great freelancer. Being freelancer will save you time and money without having to commute at all. Take a look at this virtual job portal. You will be a good fit for this company... 2. I've been a graphic designer for 10 years, and I've used 3 with varying levels of success. Creative Link is a fine agency. They tested me on InDesign on-site, but the test was rather easy. They placed me at a few jobs, but didn't really wow me. Creative Focus was only in the picture for a few weeks, as the next agency knocked it out of the park for me. Aquent generally requires at least 3-5 years of professional experience and has you take an exam on-site to test your skills (InDesign or Quark test for print or a Dreamweaver test for web). They're easily the best agency for creatives around, and I still keep in touch with them. They placed me at a few Fortune 500 companies before finding me my current employer (who put me on salary after 4 months). I suggest you call them and set up an appointment. Good luck with your hunt!
