  1. There are lots of carved and crafted items. Most made from local flora. Everything from walking sticks to coconut bird houses. Batik or "wax designed & dyed" clothing items are available on a couple Carribean islands. Curaco is bottled on Curaco and you can purchase it at the factory. Jewelry is widely available & there are some decent bargins and our experiences have all been good. Watches are not the bargain other jewelry is unless you want Rado or Movado. Handmade carry bags and purses while nice have not interesting to us. I could go on and on but you will find things for all ages and interests. Personally I limit my souvenirs to refrigerator magnets and I have a great collection of hand painted or carved ones.
  2. In the Carribean, there are lots of unique handicraft souvenir items. They have a lot of wood carvings as well as shell/wood/bean jewelry. The high end jewelry and perfume items are much cheaper out there. Since you mentioned Grand Cayman, I suggest that you buy anything Black Coral. The Grand Cayman is the only place in the world with natural black coral. Rum and rum cake are also very delicious items that you can bring back with you.
  3. In several areas of the carribean I have found these little clay dolls. they are hand made and painted. The ones i speak of are elegant tall slender women in long dresses with various baskets and other things. That is what makes them so great. Each one is diffrent, and each has a life of it's own. They can go in about any room and not look clunky or out of place. I love mine, just be very careful there are very very fragile.
