What unique items can be made with food for a halloween party?

The party will be at our local elementary school. There will be tables and booths for several different local kids entertainment... (face painting, a guy drawing charactures, kids doing magic, etc...) We want to decorate some of these areas with interesting accent pieces.

  1. Betty Crocker.com has some really cool party theme ideas. One I always liked was a punch bowl with frozen ice"hands"floating in it,you fill clean vinyl gloves with punch, freeze them, then peel the gloves off,and put them in the punch bowl.Check out Good Housekeeping,or Family Circle magazine for ideas,or go to the public library and ask the reference librarian for Halloween Party Theme books-They are really great!!Try PBS Kids.org,Google Kids Halloween Party ideas.HAVE FUN!!:)
  2. you can made indian food. Thanks Jemes
  3. A long time ago I and some friends had a Halloween feast. The most distinctive thing there was a head of cauliflower, steamed and covered with a pink-tinted hollandaise type sauce. It really looked like we were serving up a pink brain! I highly recommend it--tasty and good for you if you don't have too much of the heavy sauce.

  5. peel grapes and place in a bowl of water and make a cardboard cover decorated to place over with just a whole for them to put a hand in and tell them its eyeballs or the fat spaghetti works to in a damp bowl as intestines, kids really get a kick out of it
  6. For the simple Wal-Mart is selling a ready made haunted cookie house and all you have to do is add the frosting. It is all in there. You can decorate cupcakes. For the gross get a jello brain mold. You pour your Jello in it and then turn it over when it gels and looks just like a real brain. If you can pull it off, I would take gingerbread men and decorate them with white frosting with black frosting highlights to make them into skeletons. Use black jellybeans for the eyes. I hope that gives you some clues and I'm sure the others on Answers will add in as well.
  7. get a brain mold and use jello to make a brain! spooky!
  8. One year to our elementary Halloween party I took the Witch Finger Cookies - http://www.fabulousfoods.com/holidays/halloween/halloweenrecipes.html They were a huge hit. The picture has them fat though - I made mine skinnier and instead of red food coloring for the "nail polish" I used black food coloring. I set them straight up in a bowl which had a nice effect.
