Why on earth do people put carpets in bathrooms, toilets or kitchens?

I mean..how disgusting? We rent and when we moved in to this house there was a horrible carpet in the loo...and one in the bathroom....we had to persuede (SP) the landlord to let us rip them out...I mean...previous tenants had been "splashing" on them...how yuk is that? Do you have one? Why?

  1. I have never understood why they did it either. Tile or vinyl is just as cheap as carpet. Carpet should be restricted to areas where there is not water.
  2. I agree yuk! I shared and apartment for a while and my roomate wanted carpet because the floors were cold. It was vetoed by the rest of us!
  3. no i think carpets are for bedrooms and living rooms if you prefer them but i like wood for a living room. carpets in the places you have mentioned is unhygienic.
  4. I agree, GROSS !!!! How could you sanitize that bathroom?
  5. Although gross and unsanitary, many seniors had them installed in these rooms to prevennt major bone breakage and fractures in case of a fall as well as to keep them warm. It would be very very rare to see this practiced now.
  6. just steam clean the carpets
